See the Mobile LED Screens in Action at Hockey Day Minnesota

When Minnesota celebrates the outdoors and hockey, it can only mean one thing. Hockey Day Minnesota. It is an annual event that combines high school, college and pro hockey games on a single day, and creates a made-for-TV or in-person event that is a tradition here in the State of Hockey.

Fire Up Video has been involved with the event for a few years. But this year we were able to create not only a scoreboard, but also had a second screen placed about 120 yards from the rink for a great viewing area as overflow crowds flooded the rink grandstands. To cap it off we used our sister co. Creative Concepts to provide the audio/PA systems for both locations.

The scoreboard video wall was placed above the bleachers at one end of the rink and provided very cool end cap for the stadium.  An iPad was used with a hockey scoreboard app that worked fantastic. We converted the signal a couple times to get the video to the screen via an SDI cable to the control room. From there we used a Tricaster 460 to take that signal to the screen. We also had a sponsor loop of logos to use between games, to give the local advertisers some time on the screen.

For the second Jumbotron we used a Dish Tailgater to capture the live feed from Fox Sports North, who was also on site providing TV coverage. Overall, it was a great event that we were proud to be a part of. Hockey Day Minnesota is a huge event in the state, and we are looking forward to it again in future years.
