Fast-forward a couple hundred years, and low and behold the policy wording was never changed.  Turns out that is a good thing for our many friends who hold large winter fishing contests.   With the insurance, we can drive our 10,000 lb LED screens out on the ice with confidence that if a disaster ever occurred our Gigatron LED TV would be covered.

The Brainerd Jaycees were thrilled to rent the Jumbotgron to use as the leaderboard this last weekend for the first time in their 24-year history.   They were excited to use it at on Friday night for the kick off party.   Then on Saturday morning we towed it onto the ice, and set up facing Southeast, where it was in direct sunlight all day.  The Jaycees commented that they were surprised how bright the screen was, even in the sunlight.  They kept the manual leaderboard as back up, but now that they have seen the Megatron in action, they may eliminate that in the future.

The Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice fishing Extravaganza is the world’s largest ice fishing contest and our screen was a nice addition.  The screen played without a hitch even in below zero weather in the morning.   The leaderboard software worked exactly how they envisioned and the sponsors were thrilled to be able to connect with more than just a banner on a snow fence.   We were even able to put live video of the awards ceremony on the screen.   Enjoy this video and see what the winner of the contest had to say!
