Content For SuperFly LED Screen
We strongly believe in the old saying, “Content is king.” If you don’t have anything interesting, informative, or exciting to play on the jumbotron, you are wasting the potential of the video wall. Luckily, we have done many events over the years and know what works well on the video screen, and will work with you to come up with a content plan. Just as important as the screen itself is the content that is played to the audience at your event. So when making the decision to rent a jumbotron, make sure to plan for what you will display on the big screen.
There are a couple ways content typically can be played on the video wall:
We run the show with our gear:
- Media player – You provide files and we load into our laptop or video switcher
- Multi-camera live show – Live video production switching with multiple cameras
- Dish satellite – Play live TV and sports with our Dish satellite
- Streaming platform – Play shows or live TV from a streaming service (Reliable, dedicated internet required)
- Other sources – There are many options and combinations to play content. Basically, anything you want to play on a screen, if you let us know ahead, we can work with you to find a solution. See below for more info.
Plug into our system and control the content:
Sometimes you have content that you want to control, or even another company or in-house AV team that will run your show. In this case, you can just plug in your video feed to our video processor to display on the screen. We will still help with setup and make sure everything is working properly, and assist with the show if needed. But you can then control what exactly is being played. For this option, we can accept the following outputs:
- SDI
- HDMI
- DVI
- Other options and conversions available on request
Note: See our Content Help Sheet for more information about content options on the screen. We also have more information throughout this page. And if you still have questions, we are happy to answer any questions.
Other things to consider:
Text Size:
It used to be that we had to very careful with small text on LED screens. But with the HD 3.9mm pixel pitch and enormous 23×13′ screen, this has become much less of an issue. While it’s still best practice to keep text as large as possible for visibility, with the SuperFly, even smaller text is typically legible because of the higher resolution screen. Of course, if you have a novel on screen with tiny text, that will become more difficult to read. However, distance and poor eyesight will generally be an issue before issues with resolution. As a rule of thumb, big, bold text with contrasting colors work best on the big screen to communicate with your crowd.
Color:
All colors will display fine on the screen, but in general, white or very light backgrounds are best to avoid. Other than that, contrasting colors give the best viewing results.

Signal Convertors:
We carry a number of signal convertors, distribution amps, and a variety of video cables with us on each show. We have options for many different inputs, so we’re prepared for most situations. However, it’s impossible to carry every possible solution in each trailer, so please let us know beforehand if you may need something more specific.
More Details for Specific Types of Content:
Media player
By sending us picture or video files, we can then bring them into our laptop or video switcher to create looping playlists or to play at specific times. We request 1920×1080 JPEGs and MP4s, but can potentially accept other file types if you send them ahead of the event. Typically we prefer to receive the files a week in advance so we have time to load, test, and convert them if needed. On rare occassion, some files are created with uncommon codecs or other issues that may cause them not to play on certain devices. If we are able to test them ahead of time we can request new files or try converting them, so it is ideal to receive them in advance. We can also accept any additional files on site on a USB flash drive formatted for PC. However, the downside to receiving them on site is that there is no way to guarantee they will play properly. We will do our best to make it work in the moment, but it is not always possible on site in that timeframe. The best process is to send files to our Dropbox here before the event. You can also see the help sheet for image sizing and more info.
Multi-camera live show
We can input four (or more) live cameras into our video switcher, and create a live production switching between multiple cameras and other inputs and files. Typically we run our cameras and gear with our own operators, but can also take other camera inputs from your team, or shot by other camera operators if requested. With our live production, we have professional gear and crew to provide a quality live show with switching between cameras and other inputs. We have done hundreds of live camera shows, and have a good idea what works best. With a full production, we can display just about any content you want on the screen, so just about the only limitation is your plans for the screen. We are happy to work with you to come up with a plan for your show, please reach out to discuss your show plans.
Dish Satellite
We have several Dish Satellite Tailgater products that allow us to play live national and local TV. If you want to play the big game for your audience, we can help provide that with our Dish satellite. We will just need to know in advance so we can make sure our account is activated and that the channel is available in your location. Because it is a satellite dish, reception will be subject to weather and line of site. Although we have great success with this, there is always the chance of disrupted signal because of bad weather. We also require a clear site line of the southwest sky for the Dish to get a reliable signal.
Streaming platforms
We can also play just about any live event, game, channel, or show if we know exactly what it is ahead of time using one of many different streaming services. Besides making sure we have an active account for the proper platform, this also requires that we have a dedicated, private, high speed internet service, strongly suggested to be a hardwired connection. The outcome of playing this content relies heavily on a good internet connection, and even if signal seems strong enough ahead of the event, the strength of the signal can go down drastically when large crowds gather.
Social media plugin
A live social media feed on the video board can be a good way to engage the audience at your event. We don’t currently have an account for this, but there are many service providers that can be used by your team, or run by us for an additional fee. This is a great addition to help get your guests interact with you on social media, as well as to engage at your event. Please let us know well in advance if you are interested in this option.
Laptop signal
There are many possibilities with a laptop signal (or in combination with our video switcher). We can run a variety of content either from our laptop, or you can provide your own to run the content. We prefer an HDMI connection from a laptop, so if the laptop you plan to use has any other connection types, such as Display Port, DVI, VGA, USB-C, or something else, please let us know ahead of time. We typically carry all of those adapters/converters, but we always like to know if possible. One advantage of playing your laptop is that we avoid the chance of losing the formatting or fonts used in your documents, or some other compatibility issue. To ensure everything runs smoothly, make sure to provide a laptop loaded with all necessary files and programs. You can also send your files ahead of time to play on our computer so we can test that everything is working properly.
Other content types:
The possibilities are basically endless. Just about anything that can be put on a TV screen, we can put it on the big screen. Any combination of different inputs and sources, we can play on the video wall with the proper time and planning. Please talk with us ahead of your event to discuss your screen content, and we will come up with a plan to make it happen. We carry gear to make the typical inputs and content on the jumbotron at any moment, but can provide extra solutions when needed. If you can come up with the idea, we can likely make it a reality.
