Hockey Day Minnesota Mankato, 2022

“After watching the NHL’s Winter Classic (the marquee outdoor NHL game) played at Target Field on New Year’s Day, I started thinking about my youth and hockey, and about how lucky we are to be from Minnesota. You see, we in Minnesota are to hockey what Texas is to football, or Indiana is to basketball. When it’s in your blood, it becomes very special.

And in mid-January we will be part of an event that again will celebrate hockey in Minnesota, called Hockey Day Minnesota. It started in 2007, and includes nearly a week-long celebration of the sport. Our jumbotrons will once again be used to help the event communicate and entertain the fans and bring value to the sponsors. 

As a youth, I played the game both in an organized league and as a rink rat, walking to our local park twice a day, only leaving because I had to take a break to go home for supper.

These days, I still follow college and professional hockey. And I love the fact that we are able to be a small part of HDM with our screens. Once it’s in your blood, you can’t shake it. If you watch this video, you can see our LED screens in a number of clips from this song by Bracher Brown called “Winter Love.” It really resonates with me and my youth. I hope your enjoy it:”
