Rent an FM Transmitter for Drive-In Events During Coronavirus

In order to comply with social distancing regulations, many events have gone to a drive-in style event. From concerts, graduations, movies, meetings, and more, many events have gone to this format. As a drive-in event, guests watch the action from their vehicles that are spaced throughout the parking lot, making it more difficult to hear what’s on stage or on screen. Fortunately, we at Fire Up Video have recently purchased a new solution to solve this.

With COVID-19 causing events to figure out a new strategy, we knew we would need to adapt as well. One of the many changes is that we purchased an FM transmitter that allows us to take an audio signal and transmit it to an open radio station that can be heard from any radio in the nearby area. We have used this at a couple events now and the audio comes in as clear as any other radio station. At full power the signal can be heard clearly from approximately half a mile away before it starts to fade out. However, there may be local regulations limiting the distance it can be transmitted, and most likely you won’t need it sent that far anyway.

In addition to the audio playing through car or other stereos, you may also want to play it through a large sound system. And that can easily be done with no issues. We have been given an audio feed from a concert to transmit, and it syncs up perfectly with no delay, as it has been in our other tests as well. This way you can play it on a booming sound system for the people up close, while still having the option to play it on the car stereo for anyone that prefers that instead.
