High Winds and the Mobile Jumbotorn Screen

Tornado Just Missed The DragonFly Jumbotron

Sure it was just a dust devil. But it sounds more dramatic when we say tornado. So what would happen if a tornado did hit a Jumbotron?  It would not be pretty. Jumbotron screens tend to act like big kites and it could be catastrophic if we did get caught in high winds.

That is why our LED screens are designed to be lowered in about 30 seconds. Unlike a screen that is trussed or built on ground support, the mobile screens are the way to go for safety. When the weather threat passes, we are able to raise the screen back up in the same time it takes to lower it. Because we are able to take it down and put it up so quickly, that means much less down time than other LED types of LED screens.

We keep a close eye on the weather and work with the event organizers to make sure safety is priority #1. As a storm approaches, we believe it is best to be overly cautious and lower the screen if high winds might be an issue. At 35 mph we want to put the screen down halfway, although it is rated for 40 mph, and would no doubt take winds a bit higher before there were any real safety issues. And at those wind speeds, you will likely have other problems to deal, and a live screen partially lowered should not matter much to your audience who is already taking cover by this time.
