Our Mobile Video Boards Provide a Great Image From All Distances

There is a lot of talk about the 6mm or lower outdoor LED screen. But there are several problems with this, such as high cost, power consumption, and generated hear. With pixels so tight it is difficult to make an LED tile that will be good in the sun, and not degrade quickly over time. We have found that a 10mm is the best solution for outdoor events. People are generally not right under the screen, and being further away helps all screens look about the same at a distance. Because the cost is higher the tighter the pixel, you are wasting money once you reach a certain distance. In other words, it might make a better picture for the first few people right next to the screen, but those are the same people that are close enough to the action that they likely don’t need a big screen. To the people slightly further away, a 6mm screen will look the same as the 10mm screen, so there is no reason to pay more for the 6mm video board.

At Fire Up Video, we have found that a 10mm video wall was the right answer for most applications. By the picture, you can tell that even close up, the 10mm still looks great. Sure, 6mm LED tiles would be ideal for viewing, but it is not often people are watching the screen from that close, and from just a short distance back, you really can’t even notice a difference. In addition, our 10mm LED boards draw less power and produce less hear, providing benefits in terms of installation and quality control.

Once again, in a perfect world, if cost was not a factor, 6mm or lower tiles would look nice, but the cost goes up drastically when we drop below 10mm. And if our costs go up that much, we would need to pass on the extra costs to our customers. We do our best to provide the lowest possible costs while still providing a very high quality service. For the small amount of times it would ever be an issue, and the very small difference between the screens, the much higher cost would not be worth it for us or our customers. The 10mm LED tiles on our DragonFly Jumbotrons still gives an amazing picture, event at a close distance.
