Minnesota Gophers Football Tailgating Party with Jumbotron Screen

Rent LED Screens for Minnesota Gophers Viewing Parties

After one of the best seasons ever for the Minnesota Gophers football program, ESPN finally came to the University of Minnesota campus to film a live episode of College Game Day. With a huge game coming up that week against Wisconsin, Gophers fans were pumped up for one of the biggest games in the team’s history. Having the national spotlight on this program on a very rare opportunity, the energy on campus and throughout the city and state was electric.

Even with one of the worst blizzards of the season, Gophers fans came out in huge numbers, whether it was at the TCF Bank Stadium or to the bars or one of the many viewing parties. One bar near the stadium chose to go big for their party and rented one of our mobile jumbotron screens. It’s great to watch the game inside at a bar on their “big screens,” but it doesn’t come close the experience of watching it on our 8.5×15 ft. or 12×19 ft. LED screens. With a huge picture and clear image, our big screens makes it feel like you’re at the game.

When we first pulled up on site that morning, the bar owner was worried about people coming with the snowstorm hitting and that he wouldn’t make his money back, but several hours later, before the game had even started, all worries of that were gone. The parking lot was packed, and everyone was having a great time. There’s no doubt the video wall played a large role in this. If people know it’s there, it will help draw them in, if they are passing by and see the screen, it can lure them to the party, and once they are there, they are much more likely to stay. For a daytime football game outdoors, there really isn’t another alternative than an LED screen besides much smaller TV monitors, and even those don’t look very good in the sun.

Even though the game itself was pretty rough, attendees at the watch party had a blast. With other games and programming on the screen before and after the game, and a DJ playing all day, people there didn’t seem too bummed after the loss. And even in the snow and cold, they stayed for hours and partied in the parking lot of the bar.

Many other universities throughout the country have these kind of tailgating and viewing parties all the time for all games, but this hasn’t been the case for Minnesota. Much of that is due to the team never being super successful, but things appear to be turning around for the football program. With a great year, they are looking to build on their success. And part of achieving that is getting the fans more excited and involved, and if you do that, it helps the team succeed in the future. One way of doing this is by continuing to do events like this on a weekly basis, or at the very least, for some of the big games.

So if you are looking to plan a viewing party at a local bar, somewhere on campus, or a private company or other gathering, please reach out to us to see how we can create an exciting event centered around the Gophers football game. As fans of the team ourselves, we would love to be a part of this and rent out our screens locally for these games. We have been to these events for other colleges, and it is always an amazing experience for the fans as well as the players, and we would love to see it happen here in the Twin Cities as well.

Fire Up Video provides LED video boards for all kinds of events in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the rest of Minnesota, as well as other states such as Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and more.
