The first day of spring is upon us and what do you know, we are still covered in snow! Though it might take Minnesota some time to thaw, that doesn’t mean we should sit idly and wait. A great way to lift you and your spirits is to plan a fun time in the outdoors. Brainerd Minnesota holds outdoor events that will put a smile on the face of many, whether you’re interested in family friendly or want to jam out:

Run For the Lakes

This outdoor event has been held annually since 2008; if you are looking to give back to the local community and get fit, don’t miss it! With more than 1,000 runners the event will be held April 25 and 26 in 2014 with registration opening June 1^st and closing on April 22^nd. The starting line and the finish line are both located in Nisswa, Minnesota. This race has many options including a half, full, 5K, 10K, relay marathons as well as a kids fun run. Registration fees differ depending on the course you choose but all the proceeds will be donated to a variety of non-profit organizations.

Lakes Jam

Lakes Jam is a three day outdoor rock and country music festival held June 26-28^th, 2014. This event is rain or shine at the Brainerd International Raceway, with performances by Bret Michaels, Uncle Kracker, Gretchen Wilson, Thundherstruck and many more.  Buy a one day pass, weekend pass or a pass for the entire time. Gate tickets are available but more expensive than buying online. Enjoy the beautify Brainerd area scenery while hearing many highly talented musicians.
