As the sun shines and melts the snow, it separates Minnesotans into two different categories. We are known for our seasons; therefore this state has winter enthusiasts and the summer soakers. Regardless of where you stand, the great part of Minnesota is that we have outdoor events all year round, through snow and drought. Our durability could be compared to that of a Jumbotron, rain or snow won’t wear us down! In case you’re feeling cabin fever and want to plan a summer event or need to book up your schedule for next winter, I have a couple options in the St. Cloud area that might spark your interest:

Summertime by George

Bring your family, your friends or just yourself to Lake George in St. Cloud Minnesota for the summer months. This event is a consecutive 12 weeks, from June 12^th through August 28^thevery Wednesday evening. This festival is free of charge and the area will be packed with bands, face painting, kid crafts, and vendors selling retail items and delicious foods. The fun starts at 5pm and wraps up at 9pm. A stage will be filled with live music and you might even see a large LED screen for a view of the musicians across the park. The event is sponsored by the St. Cloud Rotary Club. Come enjoy Summertime by George for a positive atmosphere and a wonderful time.

Polar Bear Plunge

For the past 5 years now St. Cloud has participated in a polar plunge. This event raises money to help Special Olympics in Minnesota. If you are a winter enthusiast, love to give back to the community, can brave the cold temperatures and are not afraid of taking a dip in freezing water, this is the event for you! Every year the polar plunge has been increasing the amount of plungers taking a swim and the amount of money being raised. A great addition to attract more people would be the use of a jumbotron screen; the screens are durable enough to withstand the cold and snow that even some Minnesotans wouldn’t. Take a dip next year, all the cool people are doing it!
