Add Live Video Replay to Your Sporting Event

Displaying live video to the jumbotron is great at an event. But many of these live events have key moments that people may have missed or would like to see again. This is where a real-time replay can be a really nice add-on for these events. We recently purchased and trained with a Newtek 3Play video switcher replay system. For ten-plus years we have worked with Newtek Tricaster switchers, so we are very familiar to their systems. We currently have five other Tricaster switchers that we own and use for our live video production events.

The 3Play is a great tool to show replays while in the middle of a live show. It is set up nicely to both run the live show and switch camera inputs in the same system, and works well with the other Tricaster video switchers. With the 3Play we can easily create clips for replay and playback, and can go back to any point in the broadcast and play in normal playback, reverse, and slow or fast motion. The 3Play provides a lot of control over how we can display the replay clips to the big screen.

These replays are created and played back in real time. We also have the option to create and organize clips by different types and categories so we can later play highlight reals or melts from previous action of your event. We can categorize all the clips that we create so we have playlists that are easily ready to play during breaks in the action or at the end of the event. This is great to recap the event, or highlight certain aspects of the event.

This replay system adds a lot of value to many events, especially sporting events such as bull rides, football, basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, rodeos, golf, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX, motocross, skiing, track and field, lacrosse, racing, and much more. There are plenty of other events that a replay could come in handy, or to create a real time highlight real.
